Biography

Ferghane Azihari is an essayist and public policy analyst. As General Delegate of the Free Academy of Humanities (ALSH), he has regularly spoken out on issues relating to Islam and Islamism in France, encouraging open and critical debate.

Born in 1993 to a family of Comorian origin and Muslim culture, he studied law and political science. Initially involved in European federalism in the early 2010s, he subsequently turned towards liberal, and even libertarian, ideas. He has worked as a research fellow for the Institute for Economic and Fiscal Research (IREF) and the Molinari Economic Institute, and is a member of the Society for Political Economy.

A recognised author, he received the Turgot Prize for Young Talent for his essay *Les Écologistes contre la modernité* (Presses de la Cité, 2021), in which he defends an ecology of progress against degrowth. In January 2026, he published *Islam against Modernity* (Presses de la Cité), a book in which he examines Islam’s relationship with political modernity.

Now a familiar figure in public debate, he regularly contributes to the press and broadcast media – *Le Figaro Magazine*, *Le Point*, *Marianne*, *Europe 1*, *BFM TV* and *France Info TV* – where he champions an unapologetic approach to intellectual freedom and critical thinking.
